Tim McGraw Biography

Samuel Timothy McGraw is an American country singer, born May 1, 1967. Tim has achieved total album sales in excess of 40 million units; Had nine consecutive albums debut at Number One on the Billboard album charts; Twenty-six singles hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot Country 100 chart; three singles named the #1 country song of the year; Won 3 Grammys, 11 Academy of Country Music awards, 10 Country Music Association awards, 9 American Music Awards and 3 People's Choice Awards. Ranked as one of the top five in all genres of music, his Soul2Soul II tour with Faith Hill in 2006 became the highest-grossing tour in country music history.

Mcgraw initially signed with Curb Records in 1990, but it wasn't until '92 that he had his first minor hit 'Welcome to the Club' off his self-titled debut album, which failed to make much of a dent on the charts. The second album 'Not a Moment Too Soon' went on to become the best selling country album in 1994. The album sold over 5 million copies, topping the the country album charts and the Billboard 200. He won Academy of Country Music awards for Album of the Year and Top New Male Vocalist in 1994.

McGraw lives in a six-bedroom home on 200 acres just outside of Nashville. He says, 'It's the most relaxing place in the world. We have bonfires all the time on the Back Forty and hang out on tailgates and pick guitars and have a few beers.' He and his wife are away on tour frequently, but Faith Hill never leaves without the children.

In April 2006 McGraw and Hill began their 73-concert 55 city Soul2Soul II Tour, to strong commercial acceptance. The tour grossed nearly $89 million and sold almost 1.1 million tickets, making it the top grossing tour in the history of country music. In a special gesture, the couple donated all of the profits from their performance in New Orleans to Hurricane Katrina relief.

In 2008 he will hit the road with the Live Your Voice Tour. The mainly outdoor arena concert tour will be his first solo outing in nearly three years.
